Description
An account of the resource
A ferry carries a horse-drawn carriage across the Connecticut river. Two women and a girl sit on the carriage, one holding a parasol. Two gentlemen, one in the front, one in the back guide the ferry as a third gentleman stands looking across to the other shore. A rowboat and a bicycle are also attached to the ferry. Wooden poles visible behind them were part of the log control of trees cut up north and floated down the river to the Holyoke sawmills. Mount Holyoke with its summit house visible in the background. To the far right is a cliff of trap rock nicknamed "jungle stone" because of the tinkling sound as you walked on the loose pieces.
