Cedar Grove Imposter

David Grayson imposter in Cedar Grove, Indiana

In October of 1933 Mrs. Anderson wrote to Ray Stannard Baker asking if he knew who the man in this picture was. This man had pretended to be David Grayson and stayed with the Anderson's for some time until they realized that he was a con-man. Even after they figured out that he was not the real Grayson they could not get hime to leave their home. The Anderson's were embarrased of their mistake so they hid it from authorities and their friends and neighbors.

Baker responded saying that he was "regretful that you have been imposed upon by the man" who pretended to be Grayson. He also asked Mrs. Anderson for any updates that she may hear about the man because he likes to know about anyone pretending to be him around the country.
